Hydrosol Establishes Plant-Based Competence Centre

Hydrosol, a Hamburg based provider of solutions for beverages, and for vegetarian and vegan alternatives to meat and dairy products, has formed a Plant-based Competence Centre. Describing it as a “new creative pool for tomorrow’s nutrition” where product managers, nutritionists, food technologists and marketing specialists develop creative concepts to address the trends in international markets.

Study: What Germans Like to Order in Restaurants

Almost a quarter of Germans now prefer restaurants where neither fish nor meat are on the menu. This is the result of a representative study commissioned by the restaurant chain Peter Pane and the Institute for Management and Economic Research (IMWF) to survey 1,000 Germans aged 18 and over. Exactly 23% like to go to vegetarian and vegan restaurants.

Co-op is Offering Vegan Christmas Meat Roast

Co-op UK is the latest supermarket in the UK to release a vegan roast for Christmas dinner. Hot on the heels of Waitrose, Sainsbury’s and Tesco, this meat-free festive roasting joint is launching in a bid to get a top place in the booming plant-based industry, at this peak time of year for food retailers. The seitan-based joint, which serves 2 people, is made from flavoured seitan with an apricot and cranberry stuffing centre wrapped in smoky meat-free seitan rashers and served with herb gravy, and will be available in selected stores from Thursday 19th December 2019. Nordic Meat Company HKScan to Produce Plant-Based Products

Nordic Meat company HKScan is teaming up with Finland’s eco distribution company Hes-Pro Oy. Together they have signed a cooperation agreement to develop, produce and launch plant-based protein products. Hes-Pro Oy is part of the same group of companies as the fast-food chain Hesburger; it is the largest hamburger restaurant chain in Finland, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania with a market share larger than that of its US-based rival McDonald’s. The fast-food burger company has a meat-heavy menu. The surge of demand in recent years for plant-based has not gone unnoticed in the meat industry, hence, major companies are creating partnerships to enable them access to that market and enter the highly profitable plantbased market. Food services company Aramark has announced that five its stadiums were added to PETA’s Top Ten Most Vegan-friendly NFL List. The food and beverage provider was recognized for its vegan menus in U.S. Bank Stadium (Minnesota Vikings), Lincoln Financial Field (Philadelphia Eagles), Arrowhead Stadium (Kansas City Chiefs), Empower Field at Mile High (Denver Broncos), and M&T Bank Stadium (Baltimore Ravens).

Tesla’s Vegan Model 3 Approved For Use as New York Taxi Fleet

The Tesla Model 3, which is 100% leather-free including even the steering wheel, has been approved by New York City’s Taxi and Limousine Commission to join the famous city fleet. This will be the first electric car approved for the fleet, and it has also been approved for use as Uber and Lyft.
