With the New Food Conference (21-22 March 2019, Berlin), ProVeg aims to pave the way for the future of the food industry, bringing together renowned experts and leading companies in innovative alternatives to animal products in order to jointly shape the ideas of the future.
Veganuary, the original UK campaign that invites and supports people to eat vegan for the month of January, is gaining popularity in the United States. Veganuary is expected to reach more than 300,000 people in 2019, particularly in the Unites States, as consumer interests are shifting towards more ethical, sustainable, and healthier eating.
From January 18-27 2019, a Green Week will once again take place at the exhibition grounds in Berlin. The Green Week concept is based on collaborations between German federal states and international states in the area of nutrition. The aim is to exhibit local food from all the regions involved. Vegan food has gained in importance at these events in recent years – and the trend continues to rise. There will be vegan offerings available in the market hall and the organic food hall. However, there will be no separate exhibition area for vegan food in 2019.
At the Vegan Planet Fair, the biggest vegan fair in Austria, Vegan Awards in the categories of Food, Beverages, Wine and Non-Food (cosmetics, textiles, etc.) were presented once again this year. These awards have been presented by the Vegan Society of Austria since 2017. This year’s plant-based fair took place in Vienna from December 1st-2nd.
Veganuary inspires and supports hundreds of thousands of people around the world try a vegan diet for a month. The 2019 Veganuary campaign launches in early December 2018, with new contents released on the website and social media channels.
ProVeg (former VEBU – Vegetarierbund Deutschland e .V.) launched Europe’s first incubator for innovative veggie products, with 11 startups working for a better future. The ProVeg Incubator was officially launched on World Vegan Day, 1 November 2018, as the first business incubator in Europe for innovative vegan products.
A new trade show centred around plant-based products and services has been announced by JD Events. The Plant Based World Conference & Expo (PBW) is taking place June 7-8, 2019 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City. Focused on plant-based food and lifestyle, the event will also feature three educational conferences, keynote speakers and networking opportunities.
On 26.01.2019, the non-profit V-Edge Congress will take place in Munich. Under the heading “On the Edge of a Plant-Based Future”, speakers from science, business, activism, sport, cuisine and spirituality will educate 250 guests about the relevance of a plant-based lifestyle to sustainability, health and ethics.
