MorningStar Farms, a subsidiary of Kellogg’s, announced today that it will introduce a new addition to its plant-based portfolio, with the entry of Incogmeato. This new next-gen product line includes the company’s first ready-to-cook plant-based burger to be sold in the refrigerated meat case and frozen, plus plant-based Chik’n tenders and nuggets.
Danny Trejo, well-known for his roles in films such as Machete, Desperado, and Dusk til Dawn, owns and runs several business in Los Angeles, including his Mexican food chain Trejo’s Tacos. The tough guy actor has spoken to the media several times about his love for plantbased food, and has now partnered with Beyond Meat to offer a Beyond Taco and Beyond Burrito.
JUST inc, makers of JUST Mayo, is focusing entirely on the hugely successful JUST Egg product, which is outperforming conventional eggs in some sectors, announcing that it has sold 1 million units of the vegan liquid egg, which is the equivalent of 10 million poultry eggs. The company also announces the rollout into Walmart stores this week.
KFC’s Beyond Fried Chicken launch underestimated consumer demand and sold out in under five hours. In several hours, KFC guests purchased the same amount of plant-based chicken Kentucky Fried Chicken would sell, on average, of popcorn chicken in one week. Peyton Klemm, a representative for KFC US, told vegconomist that the lines were consistently wrapped around the Atlanta KFC beginning at 8 am.
