Scottish startup Daring Foods has secured a listing with foodservice giant Brakes, to distribute its palm oil & GMO free meat alternatives including nuggets, mince and burgers, to almost 9000 locations across the country.
Brakes will be the first food service provider to supply Daring’s range of red meat, chicken and fish alternatives to 8,900 restaurants, cafes and hotels such as the Fairmont St Andrews Bay Hotel and the Tony Macaroni chain of restaurants. The wholesaler said that 2019 has already seen a 300% increase in demand for meat alternatives.
Scotland has an emerging vegan scene and is already host to a variety of key players in vegan industry, including Bute Island Foods and Nutcrafter Creamery. In March this year, we reported that Daring Foods had announced a contract to supply Wonder World Soft Play in Edinburgh, Falkirk, Glasgow and Kirkcaldy, as well as Dundee and Angus College.
