Škoda Presents New Models with Vegan Materials at Tuning World Bodensee

Škoda recently presented two new models and numerous other innovations at Tuning World Bodensee, Germany, which took place from May 3 to 5. In addition to the new compact model SCALA and the city SUV KAMIQ, visitors to the trade fair were also able to experience the ŠKODA VISION RS concept study in which, was partly focused on vegan materials.

The ŠKODA VISION RS gives an insight into the next development stage of the sporty ŠKODA RS models. With the concept study, the Czech brand is also demonstrating a high degree of environmental awareness. This is demonstrated by the use of sustainably produced and vegan materials, as well as the efficient plug-in hybrid drive.

Vegan materials, sustainable production, and special surfaces

The Alcantara® upholstered seats, which look as if they’re floating, use carbon textiles made from fully recycled polyester yarn in the upper section. Czech flags on the sidewalls of the seats recall the foundation of Czechoslovakia 100 years ago. Another example of sustainability is the floor mats made from Piñatex, a fabric with a carbon fabric structure. The fibres of this high-performance material are extracted from the leaves of the pineapple tree. The impact absorber of the sports steering wheel, reminiscent of a racing wheel with its striking centre marking, has the same distinctive texture made up of tiny triangles which characterises the entire interior. This model will carry the ŠKODA DNA into the brand’s future vehicles.
