Berlin-based textile printer Black Star has received the PETA Approved Vegan label for some of its garments. The label was created by the world’s biggest animal rights organisation to mark textiles that are free of animal materials.

Black Star has more than thirty years of experience in textile merchandise, and offers silkscreen printing for quantities between 10 and 10.000 or more. It also offer transfers prints, digital direct-to-garment prints and embroidery. In 2012 Black Star was certified according to GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) as one of the first textile printers in Europe, its huge offer of fairtrade and organic items made them a spearhead in sustainability within their field, providing printed garments for customers across Europe.

Selected products now also carry the PETA – Approved Vegan label. This label is important, since sometimes clothing that is free of obvious animal materials such as wool, leather or fur, in fact contains hidden animal ingredients, especially accessories like buttons, adhesives or dyes. In the production process, Black Star only use colors and chemicals that are free from animal ingredients.

Black Star currently offers four brands – Continental Clothing, Earth Positive, Salvage and Stanley/Stella – which carry the PETA – Approved Vegan label, with more to follow. All other textiles contain to the best of their knowledge and belief no ingredients of animal origin. If you aim to receiving an entirely vegan product, Black Star offers you the possibility of combining it with further certifications such as GOTS.
