The German discount chain Aldi has doubled its turnover in the USA in the last 5 years. In order to progress further, the retailer is currently carrying out a product overhaul, investing 5.3 billion US dollars in the redesign of its product range and the expansion of new stores. As Business Insider reported, customers will find 20% new products across almost 2000 stores by the beginning of next year. More emphasis will be placed on fresh, vegetarian and vegan products and food, which will increase by as much as 40%.

“Customers want more products that are healthier for them, fresher, organic and contain no additives. As demand has recently risen sharply in all areas, we had to renew the product range in the stores,” explained Aldi’s USA CEO Jason Hart to Business Insider. For example, there will be new veggie noodles, sliced fruit and organic chicken breast, but also new “to go” Jason Hartproducts, including guacamole, hummus and salad, and quinoa bowls. The own brand Earth Grown will also offer new products such as plant-based chicken patties and a green cabbage quinoa crunch burger.
