Fazer Invests 40 Million Euros in New Manufacturing Facility in Finland

The international Finnish food producer Fazer recently announced that it would invest 40 million euros in the construction of a new production plant in Lahti, Finland. The planned plant will produce a range of plant-based products and will support the company’s expansion.

Fazer aims to expand its presence in Northern Europe and selected international markets, and to respond effectively to growing consumer demand for plant-based products in the future. The planned investment is expected to take place between 2019-2020, and could create up to 30 new jobs at Fazer in Lahti.

Fazer’s plant-based range includes cereals, juices and oat products sold under the Alku, Yosa and Froosh brands. The new investment will help the company strengthen its position as a pioneer in value-added cereal-based products.

Christoph Vitzthum, President and CEO of Fazer, commented: “Plant-based products and solutions are strategic growth areas for Fazer. We want to be a pioneer in cereal products and invest in the development of new production technologies and solutions. We have now planned an innovation that we believe will attract interest outside Finland and the Nordic countries, maybe even worldwide. This investment includes several new and interesting initiatives, which we will publish in March.”

Over the past three years, Fazer has invested around 195 million euros into transforming itself into a modern and sustainable food company, 136 million euros of which were spent in Finland alone.
