Five companies — Hari&Co, Accro, HappyVore, La Vie, and Swap Food — have joined forces to form InterVeg, said to be France’s first coalition dedicated to plant-based food.
InterVeg aims to mobilize decision-makers and the general public around a shared vision for sustainable, healthy, and sovereign foods. The association will initially focus on two strategic priorities — advocacy with institutional stakeholders for a favorable regulatory framework and innovative communication to change eating habits.
InterVeg plans to take a constructive and non-ideological approach, providing a non-partisan space for collaboration, openness, and responsibility. The association believes that France has a unique opportunity to become a European leader in the food transition.

Making plant-based meals a given
France’s plant-based food industry appears to be entering a phase of growth — InterVeg cites IRI figures which indicate that the plant-based delicatessen sector experienced a 33% increase in value between 2022 and 2024, reaching a total market value of €177 million.
The association claims that switching to a more plant-forward diet could improve food sovereignty by decreasing the need for protein imports. It could also reduce carbon emissions from the food sector, along with land use and freshwater consumption.
Furthermore, InterVeg emphasises the potential health benefits of consuming a more plant-based diet, including improved cardiovascular health and lower Type 2 diabetes risk.
“Our ambition is to make plant-based meals a given, without denying French culinary tradition,” said Nicolas Dhers, President of InterVeg.
