Plant-based company Kale United AB (Kale United) today announces the launch of its second funding round; raising EUR 1 million in capital to invest in or acquire new brands that are supporting global change. Kale United is harnessing its international reach to help global companies to enter Scandinavia and to support Scandinavian companies as they grow globally.
Following its successful launch and EUR 250,000 crowdfunding round in the last quarter of 2018, Kale United has seen strong interest from investors from within the vegan movement as well as wider impact investors looking to support growth in the plant-based sector. Funds from the new capital raise will be used to invest in fresh ideas that can positively impact the world.
There are currently over 15 global Kale United member companies based in Sweden, Canada, the UK and the US, exploring opportunities in India, Poland, South Korea and further afield in industries ranging from vegan food and drink brands to publishing, and environmentally friendly farming.
So far this year, two strategic investments have been made in pioneering food producers Ocean Hugger Foods (OHF) and Swedish Temptations AB. Through the Kale United ecosystem, the strategy is to support these companies and all Kale United member companies in expanding distribution channels to bring their innovative products to new markets.
Kale United founder Måns Ullerstam said, “The plant-based lifestyle is no longer a trend, but the way of the future, and our member companies are helping consumers to transition to this plant-based world.
We want to be a uniting force for plant-based companies expanding from or seeking to operate in the Scandinavian market. We are looking for mission-aligned investors in this next capital raising round, so Kale United can continue to invest in the game-changing plant-based brands that will shape a better future for our planet. I look forward to building on our progress to date.”
