MeaTech 3D Changes Name to Steakholder Foods to “Cultivate New Community of Meat Lovers”

MeaTech 3D Ltd., the first world’s first publicly listed cultivated meat company, announces it is changing its name to Steakholder Foods Ltd. (Nasdaq: STKH.) The new name is intended to reflect the company’s commitment to building a strong community of meat lovers who support changing the world through cultured meat production.

“We can and should create a world where people everywhere continue enjoying their favorite meat sustainably”

Founded in Israel, Steakholder is a leading innovator in the cultivated meat industry, having developed cutting-edge technology and processes to produce whole cuts of animal meat using 3D bioprinting technology. In December 2021, the company printed the largest-ever cultured steak, which weighed in at 3.67 oz. Recently, it secured its first patent for systems and methods that produce high-quality meat through enhanced muscle fiber formation.

According to Steakholder, its proprietary 3D bioprinting techniques can produce whole cuts of meat with exacting precision at industrial scale, and create any desirable ratio of muscle tissue to fat marbling.

“Sending a strong message”

In 2020, the company acquired Peace of Meat, a Belgian producer of cultured fat to expand and accelerate its cell-cultured avian technology. Earlier this year, Steakholder entered the US market with a new base in California, and held high-profile tastings of hybrid plant-based and cultured chicken nuggets for prominent investors.

With a fresh re-brand, the company says anyone can participate in Steakholder’s mission to create high-quality, nutritious and eco-friendly meat.
