Northern Ireland: Major Meat Producer Invests £3 million in Vegan Facility

Almost 100 job opportunities will be created at a new vegan and vegetarian food factory in County Down, Northern Ireland. The factory will be the first of its kind in the country, highlighting an increase in demand for meat-free products.

The jobs boost comes as part of a £3 million investment by Finnebrogue Artisan, one of the UK’s leading sausage and bacon producers. Alongside its traditional animal products, it has been producing vegetarian and vegan alternatives for the last three years. However, it is now stepping up production considerably into the growing market with the construction of the state-of-the-art factory.

“Finnebrogue has always prided itself on providing consumers delicious, innovative products, and given the increasing demand for vegan and vegetarian alternatives, this new factory was the obvious next step in our extraordinary growth. We are determined not to stand still and are always looking to make food the best it can possibly be, without being bound by the way it’s always been done.

More and more people are switching to a vegan or vegetarian diet – and even meat eaters are increasingly seeking a day or two off a week,” stated Managing Director Brian McMonagle.
