The EVERY Co. and Alpha Foods Team Up to Create Next-Gen Alt Meat Favorites

Animal-free protein food tech, The EVERY Co. announces a joint development agreement (JDA) with plant-based brand Alpha Foods to develop a new range of meat analogs using EVERY’s egg protein.

“Expansion to alt meat allows us to further our goal of offering game-changing solutions to visionary F&B brands”

Through product innovation, the companies aim to accelerate improvements in the taste and texture of non-animal products to unlock the potential of the plant-based category.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Alpha Foods to work hand-in-hand to craft better-than-ever alt meat offerings, unlocking the massive potential of this category to drive the next generation of kinder consumer-favorite foods,” said Arturo Elizondo, co-founder and CEO at EVERY.

Developing kinder food

Founded in 2015 and based in California, Alpha makes protein-packed plant-based versions of popular favorites like burgers for the Plant Power Fast Food or Crispy Chik’n Patties available at 600 Sam’s Club locations.

“At Alpha Foods we believe that everyone, meat eaters and non-meat eaters alike, should be welcomed to enjoy their plant-based products without any ‘labels’ or judgment, savoring all the health and environmental benefits that they provide,” commented Cole Orobetz, co-founder and CEO of Alpha Foods.

The EVERY Co., which recently debuted its new headquarters in Daly City, California, leverages precision fermentation to create functional animal-free egg proteins. Its product portfolio includes EVERY ClearEgg,  EVERY EggWhite, and animal-free pepsin. EVERY is scaling up production with BioBrew from AB InBev, the world’s largest fermentation company.

By partnering with Alpha Foods, EVERY has achieved a commercial milestone, expanding into a new area of the food ingredient space. And with this collaboration, Alpha Foods will be a trailblazer in the plant-based category by offering clean-label meat analogs that outperform other products.

Next-gen alt meat?

“Expansion to alt meat allows us to further our goal of offering game-changing solutions to visionary F&B brands across a variety of categories, co-creating next-gen foods at the forefront of sustainability, food safety, and clean label,” continued Elizondo.

Vegan Society Certified, EVERY’s animal-free egg white offers food formulators a hyper-functional hormone and antibiotic-free product. It’s a high-performing, better-binding alt meat solution that allows “meatier” textures without synthetics or processed binding agents.

Combined with Alpha’s chef-crafted products, it promises to deliver delicious alternatives without the disease risk, price volatility, and environmental footprint of traditional meats, explains EVERY.

“We’re drawn to EVERY’s animal-free proteins given they’re designed to help bridge the gap between plant-based products and the real thing, broadening the category to attract new consumers. We are very excited about this collaboration and look forward to bringing products to consumers soon,” Orobetz added.
