The Meatless Farm Expands into US

Meatless Farm, a Leeds-based vegan meat producer, announced to vegconomist in April it had plans to expand internationally with its popular plantbased mince, sausage and burger products. Now the British company has announced an exclusive 6 month distribution deal with Whole Foods USA, to enter into a market which is hyped for vegan meat products after the phenomenon of the Beyond Meat stock market success.

According to CNN, the company which already enjoys success throughout the UK and Canada, Hong Kong, Sweden and the UAE, is now planning to establish an office in New York. The Meatless Farm sets itself apart from the majority of plant meat on the market, in that it focuses on retail through grocery stores rather than hospitality. Founder Rob Woodall says that the average consumer of his products is a parent seeking healthy ingredients for meals such as spaghetti Bolognese, noting the family oriented packaging.
The company also heads an initiative called the Meatless Consumption Target, where UK households are encouraged to exchange swap one meat-based meal for a plant-based alternative once a week to help cut the country’s greenhouse gas emissions by 50 million tonnes per year.
