Vegan Essentials Undergoes Ownership Change, Returns to Independent Family Management

Vegan Essentials, a long-established online retailer for vegan and plant-based products, is now under the ownership of Steven and Kim Skaff. The couple, who also own Fake Meats, LLC, acquired the company from PlantX, shifting it back to independent, family-run leadership.

“We’re happy to see Vegan Essentials in the hands of Steven and Kim”

Founded in 1997, Vegan Essentials was one of the first online stores dedicated to plant-based foods and cruelty-free products. Over the years, it built a strong reputation for providing high-quality items and a reliable shopping experience. The company was sold to Vejii Holdings in 2021 and then to PlantX in 2022. However, in the wake of these changes, the Skaffs have expressed their intent to restore the customer trust and consistency that had defined the company for decades.

Enhancing logistics

Steven Skaff, who previously worked alongside the founders of Vegan Essentials, is focused on improving operations and customer experience. “We are committed to bringing back the service and community feel that made Vegan Essentials special for so many people,” he said. The Skaffs’ leadership will also bring enhancements to logistics, including more reliable and cost-effective shipping options.

Industry partners have also welcomed the shift in ownership. Dan Staackmann, founder of Upton’s Naturals, noted, “Steven has been a great industry partner, and we’re looking forward to working with Vegan Essentials again under his leadership.”

Revamping the online experience

Under the new ownership, Vegan Essentials is now focused on revamping its website and customer service offerings to ensure a smoother shopping experience for both returning and new customers. The company continues to offer a wide range of plant-based food products and cruelty-free items through its website, which remains accessible for orders.

The original founders of Vegan Essentials, including Ryan Wilson, have expressed support for the new owners. Wilson commented, “We’re happy to see Vegan Essentials in the hands of Steven and Kim. Their passion and experience give us great confidence in what’s ahead, and we’re thrilled to know it’s back in the hands of people who truly care about a plant-based lifestyle.”
