Brazil’s Concepta Ingredients, a division of Grupo Sabará specializing in natural food and beverage solutions, has announced its attendance at this year’s Plant Based World Expo Europe.
Taking place in London today (November 13) and tomorrow, PBWE Europe brings together numerous important players in the plant-based industry, including retailers, service professionals, and investors. At this year’s event, Concepta Ingredients will showcase its Arboreto Premium Protein range.
One of the highlights of the range is PRO 1000G, a protein asset derived from the extraction process of sesame oil. The product is said to be rich in protein, fiber, and calcium, and a source of essential amino acids.
The range also includes PRO 1000GB, which combines sesame with the Amazonian ingredient babaçu. According to Concepta Ingredients, the product is ideal for use in pasta, bakery items, snacks, cereals, and hot drinks.
Bio Abundance Program
The inclusion of babaçu is part of Concepta Ingredients’ Bio Abundance Program, which promotes the sustainable use of natural resources and the development of communities. As a result of the program, PRO 1000GB is said to have a significant socio-economic impact.
“To give you an idea, for every 20 tons of flour sold, we generate an income of R$12,500.00 per family,” said André Sabará, Commercial Director at Concepta Ingredients. “At our current supplier alone, there are 24 families impacted on 15,000 hectares.”
The Bio Abundance Program is said to contribute to the indirect maintenance of more than 580,000 hectares of native vegetation in the Amazon Rainforest and beyond. This will allow Concepta Ingredients to meet the requirements of a new EU standard preventing European countries from importing products that have contributed to deforestation. For relatively small companies such as Concepta, the standard will come into force from June 2026.
“Great opportunity”
In an interview earlier this year, André Sabará told vegconomist that the Arboreto range stands out because it leaves no aftertaste and has good liquid absorption, dispersibility, and formulation yields. He noted that changing consumer lifestyles are increasing the demand for natural and nutritious foods.
Alongside proteins, Concepta Ingredients offers various flours, butters, and oils for the plant-based market.
“The UK is Europe’s largest market for plant-based foods, and taking part in this event is a great opportunity to showcase our solutions and establish new connections with professionals in the sector,” said André Sabará. “Consumer interest in alternative flours is growing, driven by nutritional benefits such as the fact that proteins contribute to satiety and muscle mass gain.”
Plant Based World Expo Europe takes place at ExCel London on November 13 and 14. Concepta Ingredients can be found at booth C18.
