Between 5th and 7th of July, the Vegan India Expo took place in New Delhi, marking the first international B2B vegan event in India. A total of 38 exhibitors and 1,600 visitors took part in the trade show. It was supported by the World Vegan Organisation, NSIC (National Small Scale Industries Corporation) and Federation India Animal Protection Organisations (FIAPO) and organised by EXHIMACT and VERIFAIR.
India is the fastest growing economy in the world and 420 million people – 30% of its overall population – are vegetarian. In the past decade, veganism in India has risen by 360%. The Indian plant-based food retail market grew by 17% in the past 12 months with sales of USD 3.7 billion. Plant-based products are now sold in 89% of all retail outlets in India. A recent study showed that 63% of Indians are willing to replace meat with plant-based options.
With such proliferating interest in veganism, Vegan India Expo is aiming to help plant-based businesses meet with other players of the Indian vegan industry, promote their business and their products and services, and provide a networking opportunity for businesses.
“While Vegan India Expo features exhibitors from Turkey, UK and India, it will play a pivotal role in helping Indian businesses meet with their counter parts in the global vegan industry and promote their business and the products and services. It also provides an unparalleled opportunity for face-to-face interactions with a wide array of potential customers” commented Anikta Pandey, Director at Exhimact.
Vegan India Expo featured a wide array of vegan products from the categories of food and beverages, skin and hair care, cosmetics, fashion, household, lifestyle, pharma, herbal and organic medicines.
