The Ethical Luxury Summit and the 6th Annual Vegan Fashion Week Golden Hour Fashion Show will take place this week in Los Angeles, bringing together industry leaders to discuss sustainability, ethics, and innovation in high-end fashion. The events will feature panel discussions, designer showcases, and a fundraising gala, with a focus on sustainable materials, ethical production, and alternative textiles.
Addressing ethics and sustainability in fashion
According to Emmanuelle Rienda, founder & president of Vegan Fashion Week, the organisation’s mission is to address both ethical and environmental concerns within the fashion industry. “Vegan fashion is the idea of producing and consuming fashion without harming or using animals. Sadly, animals are still left out of the conversation when it comes to sustainability or the climate emergency,” Rienda states.
The Ethical Luxury Summit will convene industry professionals, designers, and sustainability advocates to examine the future of ethical fashion. Panel discussions and keynote speeches will address supply chain transparency, material innovation, and the role of the fashion industry in environmental and social responsibility.

The 6th Annual Golden Hour Fashion Show will feature collections that incorporate reclaimed fabrics and plant-based materials. This year’s showcase will include designs made from repurposed textiles sourced from Maison Balmain, in collaboration with the Label Oued collective and Moroccan designers. The show will focus on alternatives to traditional animal-based textiles, such as leather substitutes made from cactus, apple, mushroom, and pineapple, as well as plant-derived silk alternatives.
Support for emerging designers and wildfire relief
A fundraising gala will be held to support emerging designers who focus on ethical and sustainable fashion. The event will also raise funds for initiatives, including the Green Room, a permanent showroom and incubator for designers committed to vegan fashion. Additionally, in response to recent wildfires in Los Angeles, Vegan Fashion Week will provide free booths to designers and brands affected by the disaster.
Rienda continues, “The philosophy around Vegan Fashion Week is to change the narrative around the word vegan as a synonym for “compassion” by healing our fractured relationships with all beings: humans, non-humans and the planet.”
