VEJA is the latest company responding to the rising demand for sustainably and ethically sourced, plant-based products. The new line follows in the vegan footsteps of numerous footwear manufactuers who have already released vegan-friendly shoes this year, including Marks & Spencer, nat-2, and Hugo Boss.
Since its foundation in 2005, French footwear manufacturer VEJA has always aimed to develop sustainable and more ecological raw materials. After five years of research of development, VEJA found a revolutionary alternative to leather. The fabric, which is developed by C.W.L., an Italian company, is a bio-sourced material, made with waxed canvas with 50% corn waste which comes from the food industry. The new material’s look and touch is comparable to leather, but completely biodegradable, ethically sourced, and sustainable.
The new VEJA models are available as of this month, both online and at various retailers worldwide.
