Vegan Footwear Brand Beflamboyant Will Close on Black Friday to Protest Fast Fashion

Black Friday, although originating in the USA, now takes place in many parts of the world, with billions of consumers purchasing new clothes and shoes at a low cost to them, but a high cost to the planet. Vegan footwear brand, Beflamboyant, is rebelling against this yearly display of consumerism and in particular against fast fashion

Founded by Jorge Lopez Rodriguez and Tatiana Gonzalez Martinez, Beflamboyant shoes are designed in the Spanish community of Galicia and produced by hand in Portugal. Each shoe is made from recycled materials without any animal components, addressing the fact that both the animal agriculture and fashion industries are among the most harmful to the planet.

Beflamboyant has decided not to participate in the upcoming Black Friday on November 27, and the founders have promoted the #SayNoToBlackFriday campaign. To show their commitment to this initiative, they plan to close their digital commerce (e-commerce) completely that day while collaborating with One Tree Planted, an NGO dedicated to the reforestation of forests.
