Germany: In the course of private label harmonisation, the vegetarian and vegan private label range will be offered jointly by ALDI Nord and ALDI SÜD under the brand “Mein Veggie Tag”. These include veggie nuggets, veggie meatballs, veggie fish fingers and veggie schnitzels.
The changeover will be gradual and the products will gradually be available in the ALDI Nord and ALDI SÜD branches. Since 5 August 2019, the purely vegetable The Wonder Burger has also been available. The Wonder Burger Patty has a typical meat-like structure and consists of 100 percent vegetable ingredients such as soya protein and corn starch.
Vegan Wonder Hack (mince) will be added to the range at the end of March. In addition, the Beyond Burger and the Vegan Smoked Salmon of the Veganz brand will again be offered as promotional items. Currently, ALDI SÜD is also offering other vegan products such as schnitzel, nuggets, vegan fish fingers and vegan kebab of the Vivera brand as promotional items.
Currently, ALDI SÜD offers 190 food products marked with the V-label, 160 of which are vegan. In recognition of the great vegan variety, the Albert Schweitzer Foundation honoured ALDI Nord and ALDI SÜD as the most vegan-friendly discounters for the second time last year
ALDI Nord and ALDI SÜD are harmonising their product ranges and merging around 100 own brands by the end of the year. In line with the motto “Everything stays better”, ALDI Nord will partially take over ALDI SÜD’s own brands and vice versa. The change will primarily affect brand names and packaging design. The modernisation of the private labels is a logical step for ALDI to consolidate its market position, secure its competitiveness and expand its price leadership.
