Applewood Vegan Launches Snacking Cheeses at Morrisons Stores UK-Wide

Applewood Vegan is launching its award-winning plant-based cheese in a new snacking format. Called Minis, the individually-wrapped cheeses come in packs of five and will be available at Morrisons stores across the UK.

The product is Applewood’s first vegan snacking cheese, and joins the current vegan range entailing Appleood block, grated, and slices. The Minis are said to have the “smooth, smoky taste” that the brand is known for.

Applewood Vegan is now the UK’s second-best-selling plant-based cheese, available at almost all major supermarket chains. It has won eleven awards, and the block format sold out almost immediately when it was first launched in 2019.

A few other brands have launched vegan versions of their snacking cheeses in recent years — including Babybel, which now offers mini plant-based cheeses wrapped in green wax instead of the traditional red. In the US, Babybel’s parent company Bel Brands will soon be launching a dairy-free version of one of its other snacks, Laughing Cow Cream Cheese Triangles.

Another US brand, GOOD PLANeT Foods, claimed to be the first to launch snackable plant-based cheese wedges in 2021. The wedges are available in the flavours Original, Pepper Jack, and Smoked Gouda.

“We are so excited to be bringing Applewood Vegan Minis to the market,” said Applewood brand manager Ffion Davies. “They were the only format left for us to launch in and we can’t wait to see what customers think. Just in time for spring, the Minis will be perfect for lunchboxes and picnics.”

The snacking cheeses will launch at Morrisons from March 27.
