The Mexican restaurant chain Del Taco has revealed that it has sold two million Beyond Meat tacos since their launch in April. Now the California based company plans to expand the offerings containing Beyond Meat ingredients.
Del Taco announced the partnership with Beyond Meat two months ago to offer its Beyond Beef as a vegan taco option to retail for $2.49. Since then, the Beyond Taco and Beyond Avocado Taco has sold over 2 million units, making them the most successful menu launches in the history of Del Taco, according to Business Insider.
It was revealed last week that two further menu items will be added to menus at 580 locations; the Beyond 8 Layer Burrrito and the Epic Beyond Cali Burrito. Since the announcement, shares in Del Taco rose 1.8%.
Del Taco Chief Executive John Cappasola told investors in May: “Since launching 11 days ago, we are very encouraged by increases in both check and traffic, as this new product platform is bringing in many new or lapsed users and appealing to regular Del Taco guests, who are all eager to sample our Beyond Taco offerings.”
Cappasola recently commented, “The enthusiasm shown by our fans during the first weeks of our Beyond Meat offerings was undeniable.”
