General Mills has announced a new line of its premium French “Oui by Yoplait” yogurt, saying the move is in response to the growing demand for non-dairy options in North America. The product line of premium French-style yogurt crafted in glass jars, have a coconut base with vanilla, strawberry, mango and raspberry flavours.
General Mills, whose brands also include Nature Valley and Häagen-Dazs, employs 40,000 staff and generated fiscal net sales of U.S. $16.9 billion in 2019. Yoplait is the largest franchise brand of yogurt, with a leadership position in the “simply better” yogurt segment, which now expands its Oui by Yoplait portfolio into the highly profitable dairy-free segment.
In addition, General Mills announces that Oui by Yoplait was yesterday recognized as a “Breakthrough Innovation” in Nielsen’s 2019 Breakthrough Innovation Report. The product line delivered more than $100 million in first year sales, and is among one of the yogurt category’s biggest new product launches in recent years.
Oui Dairy Free is currently in limited release and will be widely available nationwide in January 2020.
