Swedish plant-based food company Havredals announces the launch of its fava-bean meat range in the New York Metro area, following its debut in Virginia this February.
Despite the decline of plant-based meat sales in the USA, Havredals says it has been experiencing strong demand for its great-tasting and affordable beef and chicken offerings crafted with fava beans, peas, and oats from regenerative farming, which, moreover, are soy, gluten, and GMO-free.
“This expansion highlights Havredals’ mission to drive positive change in the food industry”
Listed with Performance Food Group (PFG), the company’s distribution partner in the country, Havredals’ range is now available for food service customers across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and Pennsylvania, marking a substantial expansion in the Northeast.
The Swedish company states, “This expansion highlights Havredals’ mission to drive positive change in the food industry, contributing to healthier diets and a more sustainable planet.”
New focus on plant-based meat
This launch marks a significant step for Havredals, which recently exited the plant-based dairy category to sharpen its focus on plant-based proteins.
By dedicating its resources to meat alternatives, the company aims to become a leader in sustainable and health-conscious food options and reaffirms its commitment to combating climate change and promoting public health.
Based in Uppsala, Havredals produced oat drinks and creams along with burgers and minced meat. Its first product, Original Oat Milk, launched in Sweden in early 2020. Its dairy alternatives were a favorite among many Swedish households, with its plant-based dairy products selling over a million units.
Havredals will present its plant-based meat portfolio at the PFG Metro Fall Expo on September 24th. At the event, food service operators can taste and experience Havredals’ innovative “made in Sweden” products firsthand.
Katerina Cronstedt, CEO of Havredals, stated when the company debuted in the US, “Our mission goes beyond offering alternatives to traditional meat; it’s about providing food solutions that benefit our health, the environment, and the welfare of future generations.”
