UNLIMEAT Launches Plant-Based Korean BBQ and Pulled Pork at Albertsons Across USA

Korea’s UNLIMEAT is preparing to launch two products — plant-based Korean BBQ and pulled pork — at 1,500 Albertsons stores in the US.

The Korean BBQ is a plant-based alternative to barbecued beef brisket, and according to UNLIMEAT can be grilled or stir-fried and used in both Eastern and Western cuisines. The pulled pork, which has already proven popular in pre-launch events, comes in two flavours — original (traditional barbecue flavour) and sweet & smoky (charcoal grilled rib flavour).

“We’re incredibly excited to bring our signature products to Albertsons customers”

The three products are UNLIMEAT’s most popular meat alternatives and are made with upcycled ingredients such as defatted soybean powder and rice bran. This prevents waste and makes use of highly nutritious byproducts; 90% of the nutrients in rice are found in the bran.

“Tastier and healthier plant-based options”

UNLIMEAT first launched its plant-based beef and pork in the US at the beginning of 2022. In May, the brand added plant-based jerky to the range via a highly successful Kickstarter campaign, which achieved its funding goal within three hours of launch. By the end of the campaign, over 1000% of the target sum had been raised.

Since then, UNLIMEAT has launched at online marketplaces such as Amazon and GTFO It’s Vegan, along with restaurants like LA’s Jeong Yuk Jeom.

“Partnering with Albertsons to offer our unique and delicious plant-based foods to a wider audience is a testament to the industry’s evolution and increasing appetite for more diverse offerings. We’re incredibly excited to bring our signature products to Albertsons customers, who deserve tastier and healthier plant-based options,” said Ryan Chung, the head of international business at UNLIMEAT.
