Swedish pea milk brand Sproud has launched a new product, Barista ZERO, formulated with no sugars or added sweeteners.
Designed to provide baristas with exceptional performance, the new formula is said to have a smooth, creamy texture and neutral taste, with twice as much protein as oat milk. It offers long-lasting microfoam that can be used to create latte art by professionals and home baristas alike.
Made from yellow split peas, Sproud products are free of major allergens and are claimed to have the lowest climate impact of any dairy or plant-based milk on the market. Barista ZERO makes its debut today (November 11) at the European Coffee Symposium in Berlin, where Sproud is the official milk alternative sponsor.
“Uncompromising product”
The news comes just two weeks after Sproud announced that TV presenter Maya Jama had become an investor and co-owner of the brand. Jama will now become the face of Sproud, acting as a strategic advisor and brand ambassador.
Sproud products are already available globally, and are the preferred milk alternatives at juice bar and coffee shop chain Joe & The Juice. In the UK, they can be purchased from Waitrose, Ocado, and Amazon.
“Our team has been working on this product for the past year, so we’re all really excited for people to finally taste it,” said Sara Berger, CEO of Sproud. “We have a great relationship with baristas, and therefore wanted to create an uncompromising product they could rely on for all their customers.
“We’re confident that Barista ZERO not only meets the expectations of professional baristas, but also supports consumers increasingly seeking low-sugar alternatives in the plant-based category. As the newest product in our pea-based milk alternative lineup, Barista ZERO reinforces our commitment to manufacturing plant-based milk alternatives that balance health, taste, and environmental responsibility.”
Barista ZERO is now available from the Sproud website.
