Shares in Famous Daves up 10% After Announcement of Beyond Meat Partnership

Even barbecue meat joints are now cashing in on vegan meat. Famous Dave’s is a chain of BBQ restaurans in the Midwest US states, primarily serving ribs and chicken with various BBQ sauce options. The chain, which operates over 180 locations in 33 states, has now said it will partner with Beyond Meat to serve the Beyond Burger, making share prices soar by 10% according to Markets Insider.

The announcement last Friday states that in an initial trial period the Beyond Burger will be offered in five Famous Dave’s restaurants in Minnesota and Colorado. It is the first time that the BBQ chain has offered plant-based protein options on its menus. After the trial, Famous Dave’s will roll out the Beyond Meat option across all locations after the summer period.

“It’s important that the new items fit in perfectly with the rest of our award-winning and fan favorites and we believe that the new options will do just that.” commented Jeff Crivello, CEO of Famous Dave’s. “In listening to our fans, we see tremendous opportunity to cater to their evolving palates and look forward to expanding the menu even further.”

Sylvia Matzke-Hill, Culinary Director of Famous Dave’s, said: “We’ve been busy in the test kitchen experimenting with plant-based meat options, working to find solutions in line with the quality our Famous Dave’s guests have come to expect and we are extremely happy with the quality of Beyond Meat.”
