Taco Bell Ready to Accept Plant-Based after CEO Samples Beyond Meat and is Now a Fan”

Taco Bell has revealed it is considering plantbased options – in contrast to previous strategy to continue promoting its vegetarian lines, the chain’s new chief executive officer Mark King has said he is ready to embrace meat alternatives within a year, according to Bloomberg.

King said in the interview that he has tried Beyond Meat products and last week and is a fan.“I tried all the food which was really exciting, and way beyond my expectation.”

“We definitely see that plant-based protein has a place on the menu,” King said, adding that the company is still deciding which plant protein products to put on the menu.

Taco Bell in Spain launched vegan options last August, and in Shanghai Omnipork is on the Taco Bell menu, so it seems like a natural progression that this should be an internationally adopted development and one which will make sense to the brand financially, following similar moves by its peers Burger King and McDonalds.
