The American company “Freshiez” is to start shipping food boxes containing plant-based meat substitutes in the summer of 2018. Market penetration was made possible with the help of a successful crowdfunding campaign.
The boxes are called “Mindful Meat on a Mission”. The aim is to offer consumers a convenient and tasty alternative to animal protein. The focus is on fresh and certified organic ingredients. No nuts, soya or genetically modified ingredients are used.
The founder of Freshiez, Wez Acker, has a 24-year career in the conventional (non-vegan) food industry. Due to his own conversion to a vegan diet, which he made along with his fiancée, he decided to create vegan versions of American classics.
Although this venture by Wez Acker is not the first in the field – vegan butchers like The Herbivorous Butcher, The Very Good Butchers and Real Fake Meats have similar approaches – Freshiez has managed to gather a large consumer base.
