Wendy’s Canada Quietly Launches the Vegan Plantiful Burger

Following the success of the majority of fast food chains’ vegan products such as McDonald’s PLT and Burger King’s Impossible Whopper, Wendy’s in Canada has quietly added a plant-based product to its menus called the Plantiful Burger, without any announcement online or instore.

Outdoor advertisements, noticed by the public and reported by Live Kindly and Veg News, displayed “The Plentiful” with the phrase: “Where’s the beef? Not here.”

The burger is reportedly made from pea protein, which suggests that the new item is not made by Impossible Foods but could be potentially either produced in-house, by Beyond Meat, or another competitor. Apparently, Wendy’s staff commented to Compassion Over Killing that the burger contains egg and as such it may be plantbased and not necessarily vegan, although it is not clear as to whether the egg is carried in the mayonnaise or the bun, which could be removed upon request, or whether the egg is contained in the burger itself.
