Tesco’s Latest Vegan Move: Plant-based Catering

The UK’s biggest supermarket Tesco is to provide a vegan catering service, through its own Wicked Kitchen line. The plant-based platters will be to supply meetings, parties and events with healthy finger food.

The news was revealed via an Instagram story from Tesco’s innovation director, Derek Sarno, who co-founded their Wicked Kitchen range. The supermarket hasn’t yet confirmed exactly which products will be available on the catering trays, however the picture showed a variety of their wraps and sandwiches.

This idea represents further movement in the vegan market for the supermarket giant. 2018 saw the company launch its own brand of vegan cheeses, as well as stocking dairy-free ice cream and being the first UK supermarket to add the Beyond Burger to its meat section.

Tesco even released an app to aid shoppers in finding vegetarian or vegan options in their stores in the run-up to the festive period.
