Chunk Foods, a producer of plant-based whole cuts, has partnered with Pastrami Queen, the home of Anthony Bourdain’s favorite pastrami sandwich, to introduce a new plant-based pastrami option. Pastrami Queen, established on Manhattan’s Lower East Side in 1956, has a long-standing reputation for its hand-carved pastrami and traditional Jewish deli fare. According to Chunk, this partnership marks the first time a traditional NYC Jewish deli is offering plant-based pastrami on its menu.
Chunk Foods has been gaining popularity for its plant-based meat alternatives, particularly The Slab, which debuted at the National Restaurant Show 2024 in Chicago. The product received a FABI award for its taste and composition.
Chunk’s fermentation technology, which draws from traditional food production methods, enables the creation of clean, plant-based meat products using cultured non-GMO soy and wheat, coconut oil, water, beet juice, iron, salt, and vitamin B12, without preservatives, thickeners, or binders.
Expanding market presence
This year, Chunk Foods has expanded its market presence through partnerships with traditional steak restaurants, international expansion into Spain, and the introduction of new products such as Chunk Slabs and Chunk Cubes. The collaboration with Pastrami Queen is expected to further enhance its visibility and acceptance in the evolving food industry.
