Abbot’s Butcher Partners With Dot Foods, Bringing Distribution Across Every US State

Orange County’s Abbot’s Butcher continues its trajectory of success, announcing it has secured a listing at North America’s largest food industry redistribution company Dot Foods, making its premium plant-based meats available to over 5,200 customers across all 50 US states.

Founded in 2017 by Kerry Song and starting life in farmers’ markets in Southern California, Abbot’s Butcher produces plant-based ground beef, chorizo, and chicken. The brand closed a Series A round in 2021 which featured actors Owen Wilson and Woody Harrelson, along with his entrepreneur wife Laura Harrelson.

Ongoing success

Since the 2021 raise, Abbot’s has enjoyed foodservice expansions including 70+ locations of Freebirds World Burrito and Protein Bar and Kitchen, as well as securing retail distribution at 1000+ Target stores and, just this month, into all 370 Sprouts Farmers Markets across the US.

The partnership with Dot Foods is described as pivotal by the brand, marking the first time Abbot’s Butcher products will be available nationwide for foodservice, allowing Abbot’s and foodservice partners to streamline and significantly expedite the ordering and shipping process.

Natural ingredients

The brand explains that its vegan chorizo is seasoned with Spanish smoked paprika, the Ground “Beef” gets its umami from porcini mushrooms, while the Chopped Chick’n is created with extra virgin olive oil and non-GMO pea protein. All of Abbot’s Butcher plant-based meats are also free from the top nine allergens as well as canola, preservatives, and natural/artificial flavors.
