Heura Foods and Spain’s Rodilla restaurant chain have joined forces to launch a new vegan chicken sandwich that will be available in 130 Rodilla outlets across Spain from 5 November. The sandwich is made with wholemeal bread, chickpea spread, vegan mayonnaise, Heura’s plant-based chicken, mustard, gherkins, and parsley.
With this collaboration, Heura and Rodilla take another step forward in the transition towards a food model where sustainability and respect for animals are central, providing an inclusive option that adapts to the habits of an increasingly conscious society.
In the words of Heura Foods CEO and co-founder Marc Coloma, this collaboration helps “accelerate the shift towards a healthier and more sustainable food system,” allowing vegans and non-vegans alike to enjoy a delicious alternative that contributes to reducing environmental impact and improving health.
The choice of Rodilla as a strategic partner represents an opportunity for Heura to expand its mission to transform daily nutrition without sacrificing taste. “With products that replicate the texture and gastronomic experience of traditional favourites, Heura seeks to break down barriers in the food sector and build a more responsible future,” explains Coloma
Early Sandwich Day celebration
To celebrate the launch, Rodilla will give away 100 units of the new ‘Vegan Chicken Sandwich’ on 3 November, coinciding with World Sandwich Day, in selected shops in Madrid, Barcelona, Malaga and Zaragoza, offering consumers the opportunity to try the recipe before its official launch.
The promotion will take place at the following points:
Madrid: Callao and Equinoccio
Barcelona: CC Glories
Malaga: Vialia
Zaragoza: Coso; Aragonia
The collaboration with Rodilla adds to Heura’s track record in strategic alliances that have consolidated its role as a benchmark in the plant-based sector in Spain and beyond. The company has joined forces with several renowned brands, boosting the presence of plant-based options in conventional restaurants and in products that are accessible to everyone.
In September 2023, the company teamed up with Tita de Buenos Aires to launch 100% plant-based empanadillas and in February of the same year it also collaborated with the Las Muns chain to offer plant-based empanadas. It has also worked with other popular chains such as 100 Montaditos and Domino’s Pizza to launch plant-based options in their stores.
In addition, Heura has collaborated with Iberojet to offer vegan lasagne on flights, an alternative launched in February 2023 that has enabled the company to bring its vision of a more sustainable food system to all types of consumers, significantly expanding the accessibility of vegan alternatives and reflecting its commitment to positive change in eating habits.
Ángel Fernández, Director of Marketing and Business Development at Grupo Rodilla, said: “We are very excited to present Rodilla’s first 100% vegan sandwich, developed in collaboration with Heura. This launch represents an important step for the brand in our mission to offer increasingly varied and accessible options where everyone has a place at Rodilla. The collaboration with Heura has been essential to making this new product a reality, and we would like to thank them for their support and dedication every step of the way. With this new sandwich, we are not only expanding our offer, but also reaffirming our commitment to adapt to the preferences and needs of those who choose us every day.”
