US Salad Chain Just Salad Adds Hooray Bacon Bits to 2022 Seasonal Menu

Fast casual chain Just Salad announces it is adding plant-based bacon by Hooray Foods to its Fall 2022 Seasonal Menu. Available in the signature Sweet Mama Salad or as an add-on to any menu item, the bacon will be offered at 60+ Just Salad US locations through Dec. 22nd.

“Our team was floored by the taste of Hooray, and we’re excited for our customers to try it”

According to the chain, Hooray’s meaty plant-based bacon perfectly complements the ingredients in its autumn-inspired Sweet Mama Salad, which includes baby spinach, sliced apples, and non-vegan white cheddar. Customers can substitute Violife Creamy Vegan Feta in place of the cheddar. Just Salad says the new bacon allows guests to enjoy the flavors of bacon without the negative environmental issues associated with animal agriculture.

Made from simple, non-GMO ingredients, Hooray Foods bacon is allergy-friendly and free from soy, nuts, gluten, nitrates and hormones.

Aligning values

“This is our largest restaurant partnership yet, and we couldn’t have asked for a better alignment of values,” said Hooray Foods founder and CEO Sri Artham. “We admire everything Just Salad stands for as a company, and we’re honored to be a part of its delicious menu, making plant-based meats more accessible.”

Founded by Sri Artham, Hooray Foods produces realistic plant-based bacon from ingredients such as rice flour, pea starch and coconut oil. In July, the company unveiled its new “AWESOMER” bacon recipe, which featured a “game-changing” chewy, crispy texture and fattier flavor.

Throughout 2022, the company significantly expanded its US retail footprint, launching into stores like Wegmans, Raley’s, Good Eggs and Big Y. Since 2020, Hooray has raised over $4.7M in funding.

Plant-forward menu

Just Salad serves plant-centric meals made with homemade dressings, fresh produce and from-scratch recipes. It currently operates locations in several states, including New York, New Jersey, Florida, Pennsylvania, and Illinois. The company commits to making eco-friendly choices easier by offering reusable bowls, carbon labels and a plant-forward menu.

“At Just Salad, we’ve been on a journey to offer delicious, plant-based meat and dairy options since eliminating beef from our menu in 2019,” said Sandra Noonan, Chief Sustainability Officer at Just Salad. “Our Sweet Mama Salad has included turkey bacon in the past, and we were looking for a plant-based alternative. Our team was floored by the taste of Hooray, and we’re excited for our customers to try it.”
