The world-famous coffee shop chain Starbucks is now offering its vegan macadamia cookies in US branches.
The vegan Macadamia Oat Cookie will cost $2.45 and meet the growing demand for plant-based products. The cookie contains macadamia, oatmeal, almonds, coconut and dried cranberries and is also an alternative for people with allergies or other intolerances. It is an extension of Starbucks’ growing vegan range. Various vegan ready-to-drink products and dairy-free foods have already been launched.
According to the franchise’s data, the expansion of its food range is an important part of its strategy. Since 2013, plant-based food options have increased 1.5 times, and are expected to double by 2021.
According to CEO Kevin Johnson, plant-based alternatives are one of Starbucks’ fast-growing product lines. In response to a campaign by the animal welfare organisation “Compassion Over Killing”, more vegan options will be introduced later this year.
