According to Jose Cil, chief executive officer of Burger King’s parent company Restaurant Brands International Inc., the fast food chain is planning to offer two plantbased meat options throughout Europe in the imminent future. At present, the Impossible Whopper is available across North America. This follows the news that Impossible Foods is seeking permission to sell its products in Europe.
The two plant-based items, which will reportedly be available are the Rebel Whopper and the Rebel Chicken King, which trialled in Sweden this summer, prior to a Europe-wide rollout about which Cil declined to confirm further details.
The Swedish products have been produced in collaboration with plantbased giant Vivera. Burger King also announces that it will partner with Marfrig Global Foods SA and Archer-Daniels-Midland Co. to create a Rebel Whopper for the Brazilian market.
