Greek brand Plan(e)t Foods, which claims to be the world’s first plant-based and carbon-negative ice cream company, has raised €1.05 million.
The funding comes from Southeast Europe’s first impact fund, SPOROS Platform. It will support Plan(e)t Foods’ expansion into other European countries, with the first exports expected to take place this year. Additionally, the investment will fuel the company’s product development strategy, helping it expand further into functional ice cream innovations.
Plan(e)t Foods was founded in 2021, and already claims to be one of Greece’s most recognizable ice cream brands. It has gained nationwide distribution at all major retailers in the country, and runs a flagship Plan(e)t Ice Cream store at the foot of the Acropolis.
Since its launch, Plan(e)t Foods has reportedly more than doubled its annual revenue on average, with over 500,000 ice cream units sold to date. The brand currently offers six flavors — Triple Chocolate, Holy Bueno, Caramelised Biscuit, Greek Style Yogurt, Strawberry Cheesecake, and Protein Chocolate. The latter three are free of added sugar.

“Indulgence should not be against one’s health and wellness”
Last year, Plan(e)t Foods appeared on Dragons’ Den Greece. The pitch was so successful that the Dragons competed to invest in the company, and it gained a funding deal along with millions of views on social media.
Plan(e)t Foods previously raised €400,000 from Greek angel investors in 2022. The brand was also recently certified as a B Corp following a months-long audit; it is only the third Greek company to ever achieve the certification.
“Since day one, we have prioritized in-house R&D through substantial investment, creating recipes that are indulgence-first and at the same time indistinguishable from dairy in taste, texture, and experience,” founder Greg Bograkos told vegconomist. “We believe indulgence should not be against one’s health and wellness, and in this direction, currently half of our portfolio is without added sugar, while recently we launched the first branded high protein ice cream at retail in Greece, with 20g plant-based protein per pint.”
