Spanish Foodtech Vanetta Food Closes  €400,000 Finance Round

Vanetta Food, a Spanish startup based in Galicia and dedicated to the foodtech sector, has closed an investment round of €400,000. Of the funding received, €200,000 came from the direct capital increase by mostly Galician business angels, such as Emilio Froján, María Souto and Fernando Orejón, among others. In addition, ENISA has pre-approved a loan of €150,000 and €50,000 from various grants from the Xunta de Galicia.

The financing, which has been obtained in a record period thanks to the impact of the brand and the good acceptance by consumers, aims to consolidate the launch of the company in the Spanish national territory.

A fast-growing company

Vanetta Food was founded in 2023, developing the first plant-based factory in Galicia for products based on traditional vegetable proteins, offering options that did not exist in Spain until then, with a focus on the B2B2C channel and artisan-inspired production.

Vanetta Food along with its CEO and co-founder, Águeda Ubeira, has been recognised with awards such as Gastro Movida Impulsa and the AJE Vigo Young Businesswoman Award, the Entrepreneurial Initiative Award, as well as being selected among the 15 entrepreneurs of the year by the Galician Institute of Talent (IGATA).

100% Galician, 100% vegetable

The values of Vanetta Food are based on creating sustainable, plant-based food with a high protein content. The project was created with the aim of offering alternatives that bring together such opposing terms as tradition and innovation, creating products for everyone, 100% Galician and 100% vegetable. Vanetta Food believes in a better world, one that is sustainable and without animal cruelty.

Vanetta Food provides healthy alternatives for a diverse public, both the vegan public and any type of household that decides to reduce the consumption of meat in their diet and include high-value plant-based proteins.

During 2024 Vanetta has renewed its brand image, developed a new website, and added new products to its catalogue, as well as multiplying its presence on the shelves of physical shops and its online sales.

The current product portfolio focuses on preparations that maintain the best of the culinary heritage and adapt it to modern times: sustainable, healthy, and easy to prepare. All the products are prepared in just five minutes in the frying pan: Galician soya zorza style; marinated loin flavoured seitan, three varieties of Cachopo style vegetable preparation, Milanese or Croquettes.
