Mintel Reveal New Insights on Vegan Business

The market research company Mintel frequently publish studies which are highly pertinent to the vegan sector and offer insight into the market. Two weeks ago, Mintel reported about the countries with the highest share of vegan product launches globally, revealing some fascinating information.

New Vegan Launches Double in Five Years

The report released on 30 July, says that “Globally, 5% of all food and drink products launched between July 2017 and June 2018 were vegan, while 11% were vegetarian. While the number of vegetarian launches has been relatively stable over the past few years, vegan launches more than doubled in the past five years, growing by 175% from July 2013 to June 2018.”

Half of Brits Reducing Meat Consumption

Last year, Mintel also reported that “Over a quarter (28%) of meat-eating Brits have reduced or limited their meat consumption in the last six months” and “Today, as many as half (49%) of Brits who are interested in or who are already limiting or reducing meat consumption agree that eating too much meat is bad for their health.”  The reasons cited for this reduction were weight management, and concern over animal welfare and the environment.
