According to a recent market study by Future Market Insights, global consumer demand for oat drinks will continue to grow steadily. The report expects an annual market growth rate of up to 8.2% for the forecast period 2018-2027.
Increasing consumer awareness of health issues and the growing popularity of organic products are driving market growth for oat beverages. Consumers also increasingly expect products to be ethically produced, and are willing to pay more for ethical products. The report states that consumers associate organic oat drinks with natural and positive qualities, which in turn affects purchasing decisions.
Furthermore, plant-based beverages are becoming increasingly popular as an alternative to dairy products, especially in the USA and Europe. This is not least due to the rising number of lactose-intolerant consumers. In addition, growing oats requires significantly less inputs than other plant-based milk alternatives, especially water, which is why manufacturers of oat drinks also emphasize sustainable production.
However, according to the report, the high demand for oat drinks has already led to bottlenecks amongst manufacturers. Another reason for this is the limited number of market participants. The product’s versatility and restrictions in the availability of raw materials also mean that suppliers of oat drinks are unable to meet consumer demand.
