New Report Finds 42% of Japanese Consumers Would Try Cultivated Meat, While 58% Are Not Familiar with Cell-Based Foods

APAC Society for Cellular Agriculture (APAC-SCA) has released a new report revealing that 42% of Japanese consumers are open to trying cultivated meat or seafood products, “as long as they have been proven safe.”  The report Prospect of Cultivated Meat & Seafood in Japan was commissioned by APAC-SCA and analyzed by Akira Igata, Project Lecturer at the Research Center for Advanced Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo and Director of the Japan Association for Cellular Agriculture (JACA). Cell Ag Organisations Unite to Form Global Cultivated Foods Alliance

The US’ Alliance for Meat, Poultry, and Seafood Innovation has joined forces with APAC Society for Cellular Agriculture and Cellular Agriculture Europe to form a global cultivated foods alliance. The three organisations, which collectively represent over 30 cultivated food producers, will work together to strategically connect the industry. The alliance’s ultimate goal is to achieve a sustainable and food-secure future. On October 26, the presidents, vice presidents, and management committees of the three associations will meet for the first time in Singapore. They will discuss the following three areas: Regional Synergies: Sharing information on best practices between countries. Regulatory Harmonisation: Advocating for consistent, science-based regulatory frameworks and standards to help get cultivated products to market. Coalition of Cell-Based Leaders Form APAC SCA to “Kick-Start & Harmonise” Cell Ag in Asia Pacific

A coalition of Asian cultivated meat and seafood companies has formed the APAC Society for Cellular Agriculture (APAC-SCA). The society will advocate for cultivated products by engaging with consumers and helping to develop regulatory frameworks. APAC-SCA has 11 founding members from various companies. The five-strong management team consists of Dr. Sandhya Sriram (President), Group CEO, Chairman, and co-founder of Shiok Meats; Mr. Ziliang Yang (Secretary), CEO and co-founder of CellX; Dr. Jay Hyeongun Jee (Treasurer), CTO and co-founder of DanaGreen; Mr. Gary Brenner, Director of Market and Corporate Development at Aleph Farms; and Ms. Carrie Chan, CEO and co-founder of Avant Meats.
