Atlantic Natural Foods Terminates Acquisition Agreement With Above Food

Atlantic Natural Foods (ANF), the manufacturer of shelf-stable plant-based brands Loma Linda®, neat™, and TUNO™, has withdrawn from an agreement that would have seen it acquired by vertically integrated plant-based food company Above Food. ANF had initially hoped to enter a public environment in partnership with Above Food, but now plans to transition back to private ownership. The decision has been prompted by changes in the business landscape, including the global impact of COVID-19, supply chain disruptions, and rising food inflation. Both parties have mutually agreed to the withdrawal, and ANF leadership will resume direct fiduciary oversight with a focus on addressing these challenges. Above Food Corp. to Be Listed on NY Exchange Through SPAC, Plans Takeover of Atlantic Natural Foods

Canada’s Above Food, producer of plant-based ingredients and CPGs, is to list on the NY exchange through a SPAC transaction with Bite Acquisition Corp. Additionally, the company is set to purchase Atlantic Natural Foods, whose subsidiaries include plant-based brands Loma Linda, CHICK’N, and Tuno, as part of the IPO. Above Food Corp. and Bite Acquisition Corp. enter a definitive business combination agreement that values the company at a pro forma enterprise value of approximately $319 million. Vegan Tuna Alternative TUNO Launches at Co-op Stores in the UK

Vegan tuna alternative TUNO, made by US brand Loma Linda, is to roll out at 500 Co-op stores in the UK. Two flavours, Thai Sweet Chilli and TUNO & Mayo, will be available. Loma Linda Pledges to Save a Million Fish by 2023

Global plant-based food brand Loma Linda has launched a commitment to save 1 million fish from the world’s oceans by 2023 as it urges people to reduce tuna in their diets and go plant-based instead. Each year the global effect of tuna fishing takes the lives of millions of fish in our oceans, a plight which was most recently brought to public attention by Netflix’s recent Seaspiracy documentary. The average omnivore consumes around 8,200 cans of tuna in their lifetime, which is the equivalent of 1,172 skipjack tuna fish. If one consumer avoids or replaces one can of tuna, it equates to saving seven fish per year per individual; if 100 people take the pledge then that figure increases to 700 and if 500 people …

Plant-Based Tuna Alternative TUNO Launches at Sainsbury’s

US company Atlantic Natural Foods is to launch its plant-based tuna alternative at Sainsbury’s stores in the UK. Called TUNO™, the product is sold under the company’s Loma Linda brand. TUNO is already available at Asda and Morrisons, and was even stocked at Aldi for Veganuary last year. The company says it has experienced impressive sales since it arrived in the UK in 2019. The vegan tuna can be eaten in a sandwich, as a salad topper, or as a snack. Four varieties of TUNO will be available at Sainsbury’s — Spring Water, Thai Sweet Chilli, TUNO Mayo, and Lemon Pepper.
