Bond Pet Foods and Hill’s Pet Nutrition Mark Milestone in Fermented Meat Proteins for Pet Food

Colorado-based fermented protein producer Bond Pet Foods has reached a significant milestone in its partnership with global pet food manufacturer Hill’s Pet Nutrition. The company has officially shipped its first two metric tons of animal protein produced via fermentation, enabling Hill’s to begin formulating prototypes for regulatory review and market assessment. Bond Pet Foods’ proprietary protein ingredient is made specifically for applications in pet food, using a similar process to brewing beer. The fermented proteins mirror the nutritional profile of conventional meat but without the environmental drawbacks. The collaboration between the two companies was originally initiated in late 2021 to develop an alternative to one of Hill’s most used meat proteins. Bond Pet Foods Raises $17.5M in Series A From Sia and Top Investors to Scale Fermented Meat Proteins

Bond Pet Foods, a biotech startup using fermentation to create meat proteins for pet food, announces it has completed its Series A fundraising round totaling $17.5M. The startup has also broken ground on a new 15,000 sq. ft. production facility in Boulder, CO.  The oversubscribed round included top global agribusiness companies ADM Ventures (Archer Daniels Midland Company) and Cavallo Ventures (Wilbur Ellis), as well as institutional funds Genoa Ventures and Lever VC; and food/tech and sustainability investors Thia Ventures and iSelect Fund, among others. Pop Star Star Sia Partners with Bond Pet Foods As New Investor and Advisor

Bond Pet Foods, a biotech startup aiming to remove animals from the pet food industry, announces global music star Sia Furler is joining the company as an investor and advisor. In the new role, Furler will collaborate with the company on creative digital and marketing efforts to educate consumers about more humane and sustainable pet food production. Furler is a long-time animal advocate who has previously worked with notable non-profits such as the ASPCA and Best Friends Animal Society, according to a release. 37 Colorado startups have received a total of $7,657,811 of funding as part of the Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT)’s Advanced Industries Accelerator Grant Program, with the list of winners including the pioneering Bond Pet Foods, which creates fermented animal food without the use of animals.
