New UK Business ‘Plant Food Bases’ to Make Milk Alternatives With Low Food Miles

British liquid food and beverage processor Framptons has joined forces with grain merchant Robin Appel to create a new company called Plant Food Bases. The company produces bases for plant-based products, with an initial focus on milk alternatives. In future, Plant Food Bases also plans to make dairy-free yogurts, sauces, and more. According to Plant Food Bases, the company has a vertically integrated business model that is entirely traceable — Robin Appel supplies the ingredients, which are then processed at a facility on the Framptons site. The facility has the capacity to produce 40 million litres per year, and has already begun making liquid bases for oat milk.
