Groundbreaking Vegan Materials on Show in New PETA and H&M collection 

Global fashion brand H&M has announced the launch of its first collection using alternatives to materials of animal origin approved by PETA. The Co-Exist Story range marks the first time a fast-fashion label’s collection has been formally PETA-approved. “The future of fashion is stylish and animal-free” The new partnership will see a collection of fashion-forward womenswear, menswear, and kidswear for its Co-Exist Story. The collection features a number of innovative animal-free materials, including FLWRDWN – a cellulosic material created with natural wildflowers – featuring in puffer shoes and jackets, padded trousers, and reversible quilted shoulder bags.  Other materials include VEGEA – upcycled from grape skins, stalks, and seeds discarded during winemaking – and ECONYL® fiber – a regenerated nylon created from waste like fishing nets …

DESSERTO’s Cactus Leather Will Be Sold at H&M, Putting Mexico at the Centre of Sustainable Fashion

Mexican cactus-based leather company, DESSERTO®, announces a distribution agreement with H&M, among the world’s largest clothing chains with 4700 shops in 69 countries. 1 Million Euros in Funding for Start-Ups Committed to Sustainable Fashion

This year’s winners of the Global Change Award presented by the H&M Foundation include a Peruvian company that manufactures vegan leather. In order to further promote sustainable innovations in the fashion industry, the Foundation has also launched an initiative in collaboration with Indiegogo, in which consumers can actively participate in the further development of the five selected startups as sponsors, supporters and testers via crowdfunding.

H&M Launches Sustainable Collection Including Pineapple Leather Line

Last week high street fashion brand H&M celebrated its new Conscious Exclusive collection with a launch party in LA.The new spring 2019 H&M Conscious Exclusive collection introduces three new sustainable materials: Piñatex, a natural leather alternative made from cellulose fibers extracted from pineapple leaves; BLOOM Foam, a plant-based flexible foam using algae biomass; and Orange Fiber, sustainable silk-like fabrics made from citrus by-products.
