WK Kellogg Co. Unveils First 100% Plant-Based Cereal After Split From Kellogg’s

Today, WK Kellogg Co. launched its first new cereal since its independent formation after a split from Kellogg’s in October of last year. The 100% plant-based cereal line, “Eat Your Mouth Off,” will be available at retailers across the United States starting this month. WK Kellogg Co’s brand portfolio includes the full range of cereals that Kellogg’s is known for, including Froot Loops, Frosted Flakes, Rice Krispies, Corn Flakes, and more. Notably, many of Kellogg’s popular cereals include vitamin D sourced from lanolin, a derivative of sheep’s wool. Despite thousands of signatures on a petition urging the company to switch to plant-based vitamins, Kellogg’s has not completely phased out lanolin. MorningStar Farms’ New Incogmeato Chick’n Patties Include First-Ever Vegan Eggo Waffles

Kellogg’s-owned MorningStar Farms announces it is rolling out two new plant-based chicken products throughout the rest of 2022. One of the products will feature the first vegan waffle ever created by Kellogg’s iconic breakfast brand Eggo. New entrees Sold through MorningStar’s Incogmeato line, the new chicken additions feature the Plant-Based Hot and Spicy Crispy Chik’n Filet, plus the Chik’n and Eggo Liege Style Waffle Sandwich. According to the brand, the Hot Crispy Chik’n offers a juicy inside with a crispy, crunchy exterior. The item is available in packages of four filets, with each filet containing 29% less fat than conventional chicken filets (12 g total fat per serving vs. 8 g), and 17 g of plant protein. Kellogg Company has announced a plan to separate its North American cereal, snacks, and plant-based foods businesses. The new Plant Co. division, with about $340 million in net sales, will be anchored by the MorningStar Farms brand and will focus its resources and investments on strong category prospects in the sector.  The plan to separate into three new independent public companies via tax-free spin-offs means that each is better positioned to unlock its full standalone potential, according to Kellogg. Kellogg’s Claims MorningStar Farms Products Will Be Made With “Sustainable” Soy and 100% Renewable Energy

Kellogg’s has announced plans to improve the sustainability of its MorningStar Farms products over the course of 2022, stating its meat alternatives will be made with 100% renewable energy by the end of the year. Is Kellogg’s Vegan Brand MorningStar Farms Primed to Go Public?

MorningStar Farms, a division of the global food giant Kellogg Company, recently announced that it would convert its entire product line to 100% vegan by 2021. More than 50 percent of its portfolio, which includes burgers, sausages, and nuggets, has already transitioned with almost 65% of its products slated to be all-vegan by the end of 2019. MorningStar Farm’s corn dogs are the latest recipe to be added to the vegan-friendly list.
