Meatable Jointly Secures €1M for Cultivated Meat Scaffolding R&D

A Dutch consortium of businesses and academia, including cultivated meat pioneer Meatable, DSM, VIVOLTA, and TU Delft, has been awarded the Open Technology Programme by the Dutch Research Council (NWO).   The programme will grant the consortium €1 million to fund a five-year research project using protein-based biopolymers such as elastin-like polypeptides (ELPs) for food and healthcare applications, including soft tissue repair. According to Meatable, ELPs have the potential to create the scaffolds necessary for developing cultivated meat products, including whole cuts.  Creating synthetic biopolymer prototypes TU Delft’s professors, Dr. Gijsje Koenderink and Dr. Jean-Marc Daran, will lead the research project to study the scalability and cost-effectiveness of ELPs and non-animal-derived collagen.  Participants companies DSM and VIVOLTA will add their “world-class biotechnology competence,” which is critical …

World’s First Hybrid Cultivated Meat Innovation Center Coming in 2023

Dutch cultivated meat company Meatable announces a partnership with Singaporean plant-based butcher Love Handle to build the world’s first hybrid cultivated meat innovation center in Singapore. The two companies will jointly invest around $6 million to inaugurate the center in 2023 and will collaborate to develop hybrid meat products for the Singaporean and global markets. Meatable Partners With Esco Aster to Develop “Singapore’s First Cultivated Pork”

Dutch cultivated meat company Meatable has announced it is partnering with Esco Aster to become Singapore’s first cultivated pork producer. Esco Aster is the world’s only commercially licensed cultivated meat manufacturer, and the two companies will work to develop cultivated pork for launch at selected Singaporean restaurants in 2024. They plan to enter supermarkets the following year. The first cultivated pork products to launch are likely to be dumplings and sausages. Meatable first revealed its “groundbreaking” sausages earlier this year, and is working with Singaporean chefs to develop bespoke pork for use in the dumplings.
