Planted Ramps Up Production Capacity With New Facility in Germany

Planted, a Swiss food tech company making meat alternatives from clean ingredients, is increasing its production capacity with the construction of a new facility in southern Germany. According to Planted, the site will be the most modern plant-based meat production facility in Europe, with green energy playing a key role in its construction. The announcement follows the success of the brand’s plant-based steak, which has reportedly proven very popular with both consumers and restaurateurs. Previously, all Planted’s research and production was carried out at the company’s site in Kemptthal, Switzerland. However, the German market now accounts for the largest proportion of sales, so Planted has decided to construct a new facility to carry out production as close to consumers as possible. The new plant will …

The Latest in Plant-Based Steaks and Why They’re So Crucial Right Now

The consumer behaviour of those (vegans and omnivores alike) who purchase plant-based products has evolved significantly from the curiosity-led impulse buys before the 2023 dip — amid an influx of new, sometimes inferior products on the market — to repeat purchases of quality, evolved products which fit into the day-to-day routine and are now tried and tested by families and cooked at home in their favourite ways. Last week, the UK’s biggest supermarket chain Tesco reported that the plant-based revolution is entering a second phase, largely driven by more consumers cooking from scratch. The retailer noted that despite the drop in sales last year, sales of meat-free ingredients and whole cuts are now increasing, with plant-based steaks and chicken breasts witnessing a 20% sales uptick …

According to Planted, the cold cut is produced with all-natural ingredients and as such is “the cleanest Lyoner cold cut on the market”. Additionally, compared to its animal counterpart, the plant-based Lyoner creates 34% less CO2 and uses 51% less water, making it an environmentally friendlier option to standard cuts of meat that are sliced from the flesh of an animal. The vegan Lyoner meat is created with pea protein, rapeseed oil, water, spices, yeast, salt, …
